Fake millionaire Anna “Delvey” Sorokin who cheated on New York stays in the US

The false Russian-German multimillionaire Anna “DelveySorokin, who inspired a Netflix series, remains in US custody, US immigration services said on Tuesday amid news reports of his imminent extradition to Germany.

Sorokin, who was jailed in 2019 for defrauding hundreds of thousands of dollars from hotels, banks and friends, “remains incarcerated in an ICE center (the migration police) awaiting deportation“said the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency.

The American newspaper New York Post reported on Monday that Sorokin, who carried out his scams under the assumed name of “Anna Delvey“, was about to be extradited to Germany on a flight to Frankfurt.

But a Frankfurt airport police spokesperson said Ms Sorokin had still not arrived by Tuesday afternoon.

The one who managed between 2016 and 2017 to deceive New York elites posing as a wealthy heiress is set to board a flight to Frankfurt on Monday evening after being released from a New York state detention center, the New York Post tabloid reported, citing sources close to the case.

Of German nationality and born Russian near Moscow, Anna Sorokin, alias Anna “Delvey“, aged 31, was released from prison in February 2021 for good behavior, after being sentenced two years earlier to between 4 and 12 years in prison for theft.
