A man in his 60s posing as an unlicensed doctor has been prosecuted.

The forgery of a doctor’s license was discovered after 27 years, but nine people were also prosecuted, including the hospital director, who failed to check it properly.

A general hospital in Gyeonggi-do.

This is where Mr. Jeong worked, who introduced himself as an orthopedic surgeon.

While working in this hospital, Mr. Jeong submitted a medical license which was issued by the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs in 1993, 30 years ago.

Sounds plausible, but it was a fake license.

Jeong graduated from medical school 30 years ago, but he was an “unlicensed” doctor who did not have an official license through the national examination.

I also visited another hospital in Seoul where Mr. Jeong pretended to be a doctor.

“I’ve also heard some of it, so I don’t know exactly what it’s about… (The director) has a physical and surgery…”

The assignment letter from the fire department stating that he had been appointed adviser to the 119 ambulance team as well as his resume stating that he “specialized in artificial joint replacement surgery” and “served as a professor of outpatient orthopedics at a medical school—they were all fake.

To treat and prescribe patients, you have to leave your name and doctor’s license on various medical computers, but how did you not get caught?

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Jeong had borrowed the names of other doctors, including the hospital director, to gain access to the computer network.

“With this method, Mr. Jeong worked as a fake doctor for 27 years. The number of hospitals he worked in reached 60 nationwide, including Seoul and Gyeonggi-do.”

Since the Ministry of Health and Welfare issues and manages the licenses of doctors, it seems to have been aimed at that it is difficult to easily check whether or not a license is issued in frontline hospitals.

It is said that there was a time when Jeong had a medical accident while performing surgery and agreed.

Some hospitals suspected Jeong of delaying the submission of documents with an apology, but it was known that it was not a problem when Jeong was asking for a relatively low salary in a situation where it was not easy to find an orthopedic surgeon.

Prosecutors also indicted nine people, including directors of general hospitals and private hospitals, without detention on charges of hiring Jeong to treat them under the hospital director’s name.
