“Your account will be blocked shortly”, a message that will make you sit up and take notice. Especially if it comes from a debt collection company and is signed by a lawyer – supposedly.
Official gazettes such as the Gundelfinger Nachrichten at the end of October warned against forged debt collection letters that were sent by post. How many of them are in circulation is unclear, according to the police. But if you follow a few basic rules, you can protect yourself against it.
