Fake Cooking Oil in Kudus Revealed When Victims Fry Crackers

One of the victims who suffered losses was a cracker businessman in Dawe District, Kudus. The victim woke up when he was frying crackers.

“We have followed up by visiting the scene of the case. Wait for the results of the investigation later,” said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kudus Police AKP Agustinus David P in Kudus, yesterday, quoted from Between.

Agustinus admitted that the case was relatively new because previously there had been no fraud cases related to fake cooking oil. In addition to conducting an investigation, the police also conducted a laboratory test of the supposedly fake cooking oil.

Siti Mutoharoh, a resident of Cendono Village, Dawe District, who was a victim of fraud selling fake cooking oil, revealed that the fraud case occurred on Saturday (12/2). He admitted that he had ordered cooking oil five times so he believed it when he was offered it again. But the fifth order turned out to be not cooking oil but water.

The victim himself realized that he was deceived when he was about to fry crackers on Sunday (13/2). The fake cooking oil looks more like water, while the yellow color is thought to be mixed with dye.

The fake cooking oil, totaling 357 kilograms, was purchased for Rp. 16,500 per kilogram, or cheaper than the selling price in the market for Rp. 18,000/kg. So the victim suffered a loss of Rp. 5.89 million.

The Kudus Police urges the public to be more selective in buying cooking oil and is advised to buy cooking oil from a trusted store.
