UAE takes stern action against job seekers for producing fake certificates They face up to two years in prison and a fine of up to one million dirhams. The draft law was presented to the Federal National Council on Tuesday to ensure the accuracy of all educational certificates, including degrees.
No excuse for ignorance of the authenticity of the certificates will be sufficient to commute the sentence. The new law is aimed at preventing forgery and job fraud. The validity of the qualification will be evaluated by the Ministry of Higher Education.
The Ministry of Higher Education has said that no fake degrees have been received by the ministry so far, but there were 143 moves in 2018 to produce fake certificates. Ahmed Al Falasi told FNC. Before approving the certificates, one should check whether the seal of the authority like the embassy of the respective country has been affixed. He will then search the universities to ascertain whether the degree is genuine.
Candidates seeking employment in government and quasi-government institutions in Abu Dhabi are required to produce degree certificates approved by the Ministry. However, not all private companies are required to comply with this rule. Action will also be taken against the institutions which issue certificates illegally. Do not advertise in such institutions.
Those who produce fake certificates will be fined between Dh30,000 and Dh1 million. Imprisonment can range from three months to two years. The law was approved by FNC members. The law will come into force with the approval of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nehyan.
