Extinction Rebellion activists poured fake blood in the center of Rouen (Seine-Maritime) to “symbolize the 6,500 men who died in Qatar during the construction of air-conditioned football stadiums”.
This is called a punch action. Fake blood in downtown Rouen against the soccer world cup which is due to start on Sunday 20 November 2022 in Qatar.
With all the controversy we know, a boycott campaign was launched today by various associations, including Extinction rebellion. This Saturday morning, a dozen activists shed fake blood in Rouen, a “to symbolize the 6,500 men who died in Qatar during the construction of air-conditioned football stadiums”.
The association also denounces an ecological aberration: “In stadiums it will be 21 degrees while outside it will be 31 degrees. Today everyone is aware of the climate problems and yet we authorize the World Cup in Qatar and the Winter Olympics in Saudi Arabia. It cannot continue like this!”, launches Temperance, activist of the Extinction Rebellion association.
“We just want to sensitize the population to boycott this type of event and become aware of the climate crisis”
Temperance, member of Extinction Rebellion
Seven air-conditioned outdoor stadiums were built for this World Cup, which would represent 3.6 million tonnes of CO2 emitted for a month of competition.
