Dawn Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto will be the backbone of Indonesia to win the title in Korea Open 2023. Fajar/Rian will face India’s representative in the final.
Fajar/Rian qualified for the 2023 Korea Open final after winning over Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae. They defeated the host representative with a score of 17-21, 21-16, 21-18 at Jinnam Stadium, Yeosu, Saturday (22/7).
In the final round, Fajar/Rian will face Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty. The Indian men’s doubles stepped into the top of the party after winning over Liang Wei Keng / Wang Chang with a score of 21-15, 24-22.
The 2023 Korea Open final will be the fifth meeting between Fajar/Rian and Rankireddy/Shetty. In the previous four duels, head to head the two pairs drew 2-2.
Fajar/Rian have always lost to Rankireddy/Shetty in the last two meetings. The most recent occurred in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Indonesia Open, where Fajar/Rian lost 13-21, 13-21.
“Tomorrow (today) we have to take care of all aspects. Condition, stamina and mentality. You also have to get extra rest considering that tomorrow’s opponent will be the Indian pair who are on fire,” said Fajar in his written statement after the semifinal match.
“Lastly we lost at the Indonesia Open, hopefully we can avenge that defeat,” he continued.
