Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto add Indonesian men’s doubles representatives in the quarterfinals Korea Open 2022after winning 19-21, 21-13, 21-13 over Malaysian pair Tan Kian Meng/Tan Wee Kiong.
In the second round match of the Korea Open 2022 at Palma Stadium, Thursday (7/4), Fajar/Rian started the first game by promising through their point difference over their opponent, including when they were 8-3 ahead.
However, Tan Kian Meng/Tan Wee Kiong then chased. Even after equalizing 11 points, the Malaysian pair continued to give a fierce match for Fajar/Rian.
At the end of the game, the two pairs were even on the same 17 and 18 scores. But then Fajar/Rian had to admit the opponent’s advantage with a score of 19-21 in 18 minutes.
In the second game, Fajar/Rian didn’t seem to give space for the opponent to rise. Tan Kian Meng/Tan Wee Kiong could equalize the score at the same 5 position, but after that they couldn’t stop Fajar/Rian who won 21-13.
Fajar/Rian also stepped on the gas in the third game. They quickly won 5-1 over their opponents. The advantage was still maintained at the interval, with the score 11-6.
In the process Fajar/Rian did not throw away the advantage over the opponent. The victory was secured by a score of 21-13 in the third game. Fajar/Rian, who are the fourth seeds, are entitled to a ticket to the last eight.
This result makes Indonesia still have three representatives of the men’s doubles in the quarter-finals of the Korea Open 2022. Apart from Fajar/Rian, previously there were Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan and Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri who had already qualified first.
