Dawn Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto eliminated in the quarterfinals India Open 2024. They were defeated by the world champion pair, Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae.
In the match at KD Jadhav Indoor Hall, Friday (19/1/2024) evening WIB, Fajar/Rian lost two straight games to Kang/Seo with a score of 14-21, 18-21.
Fajar/Rian were in a chasing position for most of the first game. Even though they had closed the distance, Fajar/Rian had difficulty overtaking Kang/Seo’s points tally.
Kang/Seo fired several smashes and punches into the empty field, which Fajar/Rian failed to anticipate. The Korean pair were eight points ahead at 17-9.
Even though they continued to chase, Fajar/Rian failed to stop Kang/Seo in the first game. They lost the first game 14-21 after Rian’s serve hit the net.
In the second game, Fajar/Rian showed positive signals. They won five points in a row to lead 8-6 over Kang/Seo.
Fajar/Rian maintained his superiority until the interval. After the interval, they managed to extend their lead to 14-11.
However, Fajar/Rian’s numbers then stagnated. Meanwhile, Kang/Seo won six points in a row to take the lead 17-14.
Even though they came close several times, Fajar/Rian failed to stop Kang/Seo. They ultimately lost 18-21 after Rian’s return of serve failed to cross the net.
With Fajar/Rian’s defeat, Indonesia had no representatives left at the 2024 India Open. Previously, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting was also eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing to Lee Cheuk Yiu.
