At first, Fajah tried to put her career first. So she wanted in at all costs Good Times Bad Times play, even if she had to ‘pay money’ to do so. “But of course it doesn’t work like that in real life,” she admits. “So I had 1,350 euros and that’s nothing. And my day care was already 800 euros.” At the time, Fajah was already a mother to her daughter Irem. But in her own words she could not ‘enjoy life like other people who did not have children’. That’s why she quickly decided to earn extra money with side jobs. “Then I got that feeling about making money.”
However, the makers of GTST did not want her to appear at fairs. “Because you’re a star and you don’t belong at a fair,” Fajah quotes her former employer. “Well, you have to pay me like a star,” Fajah continues. In the end, Fajah threw in the towel and left the soap opera. “I left myself , but I left too soon for my career.” Although the producer asked her at the time to think about it a little more, Fajah could not put her pride aside “I paid the price for that. My career was over after that.”
Fajah continues: “Yolanthe then came in On the way tomorrow and I went out. And she is of the same kind, of course. So she got all the roles after that. Not me.”
Despite her pride, she admits that it was more important for her to “keep her family together.” “My career was not that important at that time. I just thought: if that goes well, it will be fine.”
