[Faits Divers] Cauldron ambush: Direction Domenjod for provoking the police

ST DENIS. Urban violence is quite common at the Chaudron. Last Saturday, between trash fires and throwing projectiles, things got out of hand.

Among the hundred young people on the spot, one individual was filmed by another pointing his gun at the police. They were on trial in immediate appearance last night. They both left in the direction of Domenjod.
Evenings are often hectic in the Chaudron district, as was the case last Saturday. While the whole of Reunion is on curfew at 10 p.m., a hundred individuals violate the latter and seek clashes with the police. A large number of police officers then had to intervene in the area for this urban violence.
The police were directly hit by the jets of projectiles. An investigation is opened to determine the perpetrator (s). But beyond that, two other young men are accused of having contributed and participated in their own way in these riots.
Mathias, 21, had notably posted a photo on the Snapchat social network the day before, inciting violence. A text “maybe riots tomorrow” was inscribed in a black and white image of a man with his fists in the air.
Although he clears it, he would also have, on the evening of the events, broadcast and relayed several videos. It can also be seen on one near a scooter. On the others, we see a certain Anchibou, aged just 28, rifle in hand, in a firing position against a car, targeting the police located at the entrance of the city. On these videos, we could notably read “tomorrow in the news: the police were victims of 2 shots at the Cauldron” or “let the cops do you like that.” Visualized in audience, we could hear the cries and howls of these young people. Mathias seems to have realized that such remarks “it’s serious”, but without really knowing why.

“He wanted to be filmed”

Anchibou says he just wanted to protect his vehicle from offenders and hadn’t seen it was being filmed. He also confides that he himself would have called the police one evening because of the din of clashes between rival gangs. But a witness explained “the guy was aware of what he was doing, he wanted to be filmed.” For the representative of the prosecution, it is also a totally incoherent explanation, “I know that one has the right to say anything at an audience but there all the same.” The videos indeed show the finger on the trigger. He confided at the bar “I saw that it was shining” police “in the distance in the viewfinder but they did not see me and then I returned and it was the next day that I learned that I was wanted.” He adds that he even intended to go to the police station. Someone just had to drive him because he knew he was going to be taken into custody. Results of the races: members of the Raid came to pick him up on Monday at 6 am directly at his mother’s house.
Anchibou, although he carries the weapon, has only one conviction on his record, carried out in community service. He therefore receives 6 months’ imprisonment. As for Mathias, with already several convictions and an end of the sentence adjustment measure last November, this seems to do a lot for the prosecution. The court followed his requisitions and sentenced him to 1 year in prison. Their sentences may be adaptable.
