Fairphone will sell smartphones outside Europe for the first time – IT Pro – News

Dutch smartphone maker Fairphone will sell devices outside of Europe, particularly in Taiwan. He says it’s the first time Fairphone has sold devices outside of Europe, though the company has no plans to expand further.

Fairphone has been working with teams in Taiwan for several years; the company’s smartphones are developed there and it has an office. That’s why CEO Eva Gouwens says, “After several years of device development in Taiwan, Fairphone is making its latest device available to Taiwanese consumers.” She continues: “As a first step into a market outside of Europe, it’s a good place to start in the country where our phones are developed and where we have an office.”

The Dutch company Fairphone was founded in 2013 and is committed to producing smartphones as sustainably as possible. The company focuses on sustainability, among other things modular and therefore more repairable smartphones and use ‘more fairly’ sourced recycled materials. The most recent Fairphone 4 it is, in its own words, a “zero waste” smartphone because an old smartphone is recycled for every copy sold.
