Promoted by the Quimantú publishing house, this Tuesday a fragment of “The last hours of maestro Jorge Peña Hen” was presented, a Butoh dance show by the artist Belén Espinosa, as well as the band Let me sleep and the Afro-Peruvian music group Adaymu.
In addition, the book “Anticapitalist Football in Latin America” by Editorial Mestiza was presented. This is made up of four stories “from different soccer experiences in popular and neighborhood soccer fields in Bogotá and Pudahuel, in playing fields where professional soccer vibrates and is played and the ‘stadiums’ of street protest in the Chilean outbreak,” according to the editorial review.
Likewise, Roberto García, a member of the Cultura Villa Olímpica entity, read poetry.
“We are downtown / in the Santiago of the excluded / creeping bodies / that roam the Central Vega / brushing against sorrows / of other passengers / on the train / director to nowhere”, was one of the verses he read, from his poem ” Vagrancy”.
Mario Ramos, from Quimantú, stressed that the event was possible thanks to the collaboration of the neighbors, especially the organizations that emerged after October 18.
“We are setting up our own agenda, something that is not always possible. We want to convene our own critical thinking through books. A lot of small, autonomous publishing houses have appeared, which provide a contribution from authors that were not read before. like Franz Fanon, Raúl Zibechi, Carlos Aguirre “, he highlighted.
“Many people visited us, but always with protection. There is a need for encounter, affection, solidarity. We are very happy.”
The event is organized by the Empart Assembly and the publishers Tiempo Robado, Ciudad Mestiza, Zorro Pirata, Periferia Negra, Letra Nómade, La Espora, Pensamiento y Batalla, Ariete, Gol Triste Ediciones and Güiña Ediciones participate.
“For us as an independent publisher, it is extremely important to be able to participate in this type of fair,” said Octavio Espinoza of the Los Perros Románticos publishing house.
“It is for something very basic: contact with our readers. Even beyond the purchase, there is a conversation with them, literature, contingency. In the online format there is no visual contact with the user, it is not the same “he added.
This Wednesday the presentation of Komorebi Dúo is expected, the work “Macarena eres seed” by the Santiago a la Gorra collective, related to the story of the activist Macarena Valdés, the rappers of Gata Engrifá, the launch of the book “October 18: first draft “, by Editorial Quimantú, and a discussion on the prisoners of the revolt.
The place also functions as a collection site for the prisoners of the revolt, who are represented by the Coordinadora 18 de Octubre.
