The Bavarian State Minister Judith Gerlach has officially opened the Mainfranken fair. In her speech she praised the fair as a “performance show” and as a “fair from the region for the region”. Gerlach emphasized that the Mainfranken trade fair was “one of the first trade fairs ever to take place again” and above all combines two aspects that characterize the region and make it worth living: “Culture, but also innovation and progress”. Gerlach particularly emphasized the start-up scene in the region: “Our startups are incredible founding drivers”, explained the native of Würzburg and declared: “I am proud to be from Lower Franconia.” –

In his opening speech, Würzburg’s Lord Mayor Christian Schuchardt Schuchardt stated that Corona would continue to force exhibition organizers to innovate. Therefore, the opening will take place outside for the first time. This “return to normality” is “a hopeful sign”: “After the deep social and economic consequences, Germany is returning to the trade fair. And we can be proud to be one of the first trade fairs, the first regional trade fairs.” –

Lots of things going on already on Friday within sight of our BR studio in Würzburg: it is already on the Mainwiesen – the Mainfrankenmesse. The official start tomorrow morning: around 300 exhibitors in 13 halls. And we from Bayerischer Rundfunk are also there in the Mainfrankenhalle. “3G applies to the whole site this year – we know that by now: recovered, vaccinated or tested,” says studio manager Frank Müller. In the outdoor area, those responsible ask you to keep the known distance of one and a half meters and in the halls you need at least a medical mask. Another tip: buy an online ticket and register before visiting – this is how the trade fair organizers want to avoid long queues. –
“Change through trade (n)” – this is the motto of the Mainfranken trade fair in Würzburg. Almost 300 exhibitors will present their offers in 13 halls by October 3rd. —
As in previous years, Bayerischer Rundfunk will be present at the fair with a wide range of information and entertainment. “We want to be a reliable partner, especially for the city, for the district – which is back with us in the hall. And now we have put together a really good program,” says studio manager Frank Müller. Every day from 10 a.m., visitors can look forward to an insight into our program: Thorsten Otto will take a seat on the Bayern 1 blue couch with globetrotter Nick Martin. BR moderator Ernst Vogt is a guest with the Bayern2 backpack radio. The BR Social Club is new – a talk format about young creators and topics that is streamed live from the fair into the social networks. We also offer an insight into our day-to-day editorial work and the work of our correspondents. –
