Because of the warning strike on the Rheinbahn in Düsseldorf, numerous commuters in North Rhine-Westphalia have had to accept restrictions since Tuesday morning. In the collective bargaining dispute in the public service, the employees of the local transport company stopped work at 3 a.m., as a spokesman for the Verdi union said.
According to the company, the entire Rheinbahn network is affected: Düsseldorf, Meerbusch, the Mettmann district as well as connections to Duisburg, Krefeld, Neuss and Ratingen. The warning strike will again last around 24 hours, according to the Verdi spokesman. Operations should resume when the night shift begins.
Other local transport companies will also be on strike on Tuesday. In addition, Verdi expects that numerous municipal daycare centers in Düsseldorf, the Bergisch city triangle and in the Mettmann district will remain closed and that municipal services will only be able to be offered to a limited extent. Rallies are planned in several cities. Verdi is expecting thousands of employees from the greater Düsseldorf area in Wuppertal.
