Mikale Shiffrin has had a troublesome Olympics, and ran out during both the slalom and the giant slalom earlier in the games.
During Thursday’s combination, the slalom queen drove out for the third time.
– I do not understand what does not work on these gutters. Especially not today. Earlier in the games I wanted too much, but today I was much more relaxedShffrin told Discovery after the failure.
She said she also did not feel overwhelming pressure during the Olympics in Beijing.
– I was just skiing, and it still did not work. I have no good explanation for that. I always want an explanation, and now there is no one. “You can not imagine how annoying it is for me,” said the superstar.
In the interview, she confirmed that she will also run the team competition.
The American slalom queen was one of the big gold favorites after the challenge, where she finished 56 percent behind the leader. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde’s American girlfriend had thus put pressure on herself before the decisive slalom part.
There, Shiffrin drove out for the third time in this Olympics. The Beijing Olympics thus remain a brutal downturn for one of the world’s most successful downhill skiers.
Double Swiss
Swiss Michelle Gisin won a superb Olympic gold in the combination, ahead of country woman Wendy Holdener.
Gisin was in 12th place after the descent, and drove in to gold with a completely superior slalom time. She thus defended her Olympic gold from Pyeongchang.
Ester Ledecka, who took gold in snowboarding earlier during the games, led after the challenge, but ended up in the sour fourth place. Federica Brignone from Italy took the bronze.
