The Spanish National Radio award has recognized the composer and conductor Manuel Busto for his multidisciplinary ability
The past October 23 the ruling was announced ‘The Critical Eye’ Award in the category of Music Classicwhich has fallen to the Sevillian composer and director Manuel Bust.
The RNE cultural program will deliver in this 2024 edition to others eight young talents belonging to other artistic disciplines, and a new Special Award to a consecrated figure.
Manuel Busto
The jury has highlighted Manuel Busto (Seville, 1987) for being ‘a multidisciplinary creator that combines orchestra conducting with musical composition’.
He has also recognized his ability to integrate the avant-garde with traditionas he did with his chamber opera The tiger woman.
Busto has worked for national institutions such as the National Ballet of Spainand for international festivals. The jury has highlighted his innovative approach to flamenco and his search for emotion.
Classical music personalities such as Joan MataboschMarisa Manchado, Andrea Gonzalez o Roberto González-Monjas have made up the jury for this 2024 edition. Members of RNE have participated alongside them: Laura Barrachina, Jon Bandres y Martín Loaded.
The Critical Eye
The RNE program has just started its 42nd season after 35 years promoting the careers of young cultural talents. Directed and presented by Laura Barrachinais broadcast from Monday to Friday.
The awards given by the program in the coming weeks will also recognize the categories of Danza, Comic, Theater, Artes Visuals, Music Modern, Narrative, Poetry y Cine.
The ‘El Ojo Crítico’ Award also gives special recognition to established figures. Last year it fell to the plastic artist and sculptor James Plensaand other years it has been awarded to Alfredo Kraus, Joaquín Achúcarro o Joan Manuel Serrated.
