Chauvigny in pain
The Basques were rewarded for their energetic start. Ambitious from the outset, they invested the chauvinois camp at the cost of a high pressing which bothered Barritault’s partners. Chauvigny was slow to put his game in place, losing most of his duels, showing himself to be in pain on the set pieces of the visitors. When a door opened, pushed by Ayadi, Touré dithered instead of going straight (32nd). The ghosts of the first periods against Guéret at the Stade Montois were back, to the chagrin of the public who made it known. Even if Chauvigny rebalanced possession, it was the Angloys who remained threatening. Lapeyre thus forced Caillaud to avert the danger at the end of the period (40th). A new storm was brewing in the Chauvinois locker room… “We got ch…, summed up Julien Caillaud at the microphone of the speakers. We haven’t shown anything, there’s a lot to review. »
Expelled from Mendiburi
The corrections were not long in coming. It was not yet great Chauvigny, but it was better in attitude and intentions. Adelaide wasted a first chance (53rd), preceding a victorious helmet shot from Zeoula on receiving a cross from Ntafumu (1-1, 56th). The Kanak already a savior against Guéret… Three minutes later, the Anglo defender Mendiburu saw red (second yellow) on a foul at the expense of Touré (59th). The game was rocking, fear was changing sides.
But at ten, Anglet proved to be intractable, solid, against the boosted but harmless Chauvinois like this recovery from Barritault out of the frame (77th) or this shot from the incoming Panelle captured by Lesec (85th). Finally, this center with the line of the substitute C. Romain that Ntafumu did not manage to slip into the goal (87th). Les Genêts remain seven points behind their hosts.
Reaction
Cédric Pardeilhan (coach of the Genêts d’Anglet): “We had a very good first period, we didn’t give up anything, gave in to the opponent, and logically opened the scoring. In the second half, Chauvigny pushed, but I’m disappointed because I think that on the equalizer, there is no corner. But hey, it’s a good point even if we came to win. At ten against eleven, we were strong, united. I’m proud of the players, proud to lead such a team, the players play for each other. »
