Failed the Indonesian National Team to Win in the First Leg of the 2020 AFF Cup Semifinals, Here’s the Singapore Coach’s Reaction: Okezone Bola

SINGAPORE – The coach of the Singapore National Team (Timnas), Tatsuma Yoshida, comments on the result of the match against Indonesian National team in the first leg of the semifinals AFF Cup 2020. Finding the match ended in a draw, Tatsuma judged that the result was not too bad.

As is known, a fierce duel was presented in the Indonesian vs Singapore national team meeting. Playing at the National Stadium, Wednesday, December 22, 2021 evening WIB, Singapore succeeded in thwarting the victory of the Indonesian national team in the first leg.

The Lions themselves actually appeared under pressure from the Red-White Team in the first half. They struggled to develop the game and just tried to maximize their posture advantage through set pieces to get chances.

In fact, Singapore was left behind by Witan Sulaeman’s goal in the 28th minute. The 20-year-old player tore apart Singapore’s defense with a one-two pass that he did with Asnawi Mangkualam. Then, Witan finished with a sweet kick that headed to the left of the goal.

However, Hariss Harun and colleagues managed to rise in the second half. They played more attacking by taking advantage of the slack in the attack of Garuda’s troops. As a result, Ikhsan Fandi managed to equalize in the 70th minute.

After the match, Yoshida admitted that he was quite satisfied with the results obtained by his men. Because, they appear unyielding and managed to get a draw.

“This result is not too bad. The players could equalize, they don’t give up every time,” Yoshida told a virtual press conference.

Furthermore, the Japanese coach admitted that the second leg match would be more difficult. Even so, Singapore will still try to get the best result in the second match against Indonesia which will be held on Saturday 25 December 2021 at 19.30 WIB.

“But the next game will certainly be difficult. But we will try to get the best results,” explained the 47-year-old coach.

With these results, both teams still have the same opportunity to qualify for the 2020 AFF Cup final because away goals are not enforced. For that, it’s only natural that Yoshida said that the result was not bad for his team.
