Yesterday, day with 172 infections and 26 deaths

Covid management lost control, says researcher

“The dead are telling us that what has been done so far in Yucatán to control the coronavirus epidemic is not working,” says Dr. Luis Ramírez Carrillo, a researcher at Uady, when evaluating the way in which state authorities are managing the health crisis.

Too many mistakes have been made, causing the situation to spiral out of control, he adds. The first was to follow the same genocidal policy of the federal government which, in practice, is “that the weakest die and that life continues.”

“The numbers are terrifying. None of this had to happen in these dimensions … nothing, neither in Mexico nor in Yucatan. This mortality was avoidable. The mistake was made of not going out to look for the disease to confine it. And it grew. The government thought that warnings and announcements were enough and the worst happened ”.

About yesterday, the Yucatan Health Secretariat reported 26 new deaths due to the coronavirus, including that of an 11-month-old baby with associated chronic malnutrition.

Additionally, 172 new cases of Covid-19 were reported to have been diagnosed.
