One of the four alleged robbers of “Martinique Bijoux” tried to escape while in police custody at the Lamentin police station. To achieve his ends, he assaulted a policewoman. The individual was finally boarded without being able to leave the building.
Thursday January 20, 2022, six criminals hold up the “Martinique Bijoux” sign located on rue Lamartine in Fort-de-France. A few hours after the incident, four men were arrested.
They are placed in police custody at the Lamentin police station. Around 3 a.m., Sunday January 23, 2022, one of the alleged criminals tried to flee.
He faked being sick. A policewoman opened the cell door to help him. It was then that the individual attacked him and tried to take his weapon. He did not succeed, but he guarded the woman like a shield by holding her by the neck.
A deputy then pulled out his gun for the man to release his colleague.
It was finally the intervention of police returning from a patrol that restored calm. The suspected robber eventually surrendered without any shots being fired.
The policewoman taken hostage suffers from bruises, in particular at the level of the neck.
