“20 years after the start of the Phenix project, we see that the computerization of justice is still in its infancy,” says Van Vaerenbergh. “The entire Phenix project is a major flop,” she continues.
“Steps have been taken, but there is still a long way to go. We have to move towards a system in which we have a fully digital justice system. Where people can work digitally from the start of a lawsuit until the final judgment. Completely paperless in such a way than people can work much more efficiently and that we will have less judicial backlog”, concludes Van Vaerenbergh.
Minister Van Quickenborne has already promised that such a system will be in place. Our country can count on 136 million euros from Europe for this.
