Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the Gerindra Party Fadli Zone highlighting the first presidential candidate debate which is still being discussed today. Fadli said that of the three presidential candidates who expressed their ideas, Prabowo was considered the most authentic. Fadli also brought up Prabowo’s attitude, which he said did not really respond to other presidential candidates.
“Regarding the content and course of the debate, there is one important point that I want to underline. Of the three candidates, the General Chair of the Gerindra Party DPP Prabowo Subianto can appear authentic as he is. Some say, Prabowo is the only candidate who is not plastic. I completely agree with this parable,” said Fadli Zon in his statement, Monday (18/12/2023).
Fadli said that in the 30 years he had known Prabowo, he said the Minister of Defense did not want to display an image. In fact, he said, Prabowo could have answered Ganjar Pranowo’s question which was considered tendentious.
“When answering an inspiring question from Ganjar Pranowo regarding cases of human rights violations, for example, Prabowo answered bluntly that he had never had a problem with all these accusations. If there was a problem, then it would be impossible for most of the 1998 activists to want to sit behind him at the debate that night, ” said Fadli Zon.
“Fortunately, Prabowo didn’t say that Ganjar Pranowo was also part of the winning team in 2009 when Mega-Prabowo was. I was a witness and author of the ‘Stone Agreement’ in 2009 when Megawati only wanted to run if her vice presidential candidate was Prabowo Subianto. Ganjar was part of it at that time. “Success team. I became Secretary of the Mega-Prabowo National Campaign Team (TKN) and Hasto Kristiyanto became my deputy secretary,” said Fadli Zon.
Fadli Zon said that if the allegations of human rights issues were true, Mahfud MD should have resolved the matter as an executive officer. He touched on Mahfud’s position, who also supported Prabowo’s victory in the last presidential election.
“If he is indeed accused of having human rights issues, then his deputy candidate, Ganjar Pranowo, Prof. Dr. Mahfud Md, who happens to be Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, should have resolved the issue,” he said.
He said that if Prabowo had human rights problems, it would be impossible for Mahfud Md to become Chair of the Prabowo-Hatta Winning Team in the 2014 Presidential Election. He emphasized that Prabowo was the most authentic figure during the first debate at the KPU.
“If Prabowo had a problem, it would be impossible for Mahfud Md to want to be the Chair of the Prabowo-Hatta Winning Team in the 2014 Presidential Election. At that time, I asked and proposed Mahfud Md as team leader. And I was appointed as team secretary who worked closely with Mahfud on a daily basis Md is fighting to win Prabowo-Hatta,” said the member of the Prabowo-Gibran TKN Advisory Council.
According to Fadli, Prabowo did not use attacking methods in the first debate at the KPU. He said that despite being often betrayed, Prabowo still tried to restrain himself.
“Prabowo has never attacked or brought down anyone in public, even people who have hurt, betrayed or disappointed him. Maybe it is easy for us to restrain ourselves, because we have never been hurt, betrayed or disappointed,” he said.
