Jakarta –
Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the Gerindra Party Fadli Zon highlighted the congratulations given by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to Malaysia’s new Prime Minister (PM), Ismail Sabri Yaakob. Fadli highlighted that President Jokowi congratulated using English.
President Jokowi congratulates Ismail using his Twitter account @jokowi, Saturday (21/8/2020). Ismail is known to have been appointed as Malaysia’s PM yesterday.
“Warmest congratulations Your Excellency Ismail Sabri Yaakob @IsmailSabri60 on your appointment as the 9th Prime Minister of Malaysia,” Jokowi wrote as seen detik.com, Sunday (22/8/2021).
“Ready to continue working together to strengthen Indonesia-Malaysia bilateral relations,” imbuh Jokowi.
Jokowi’s tweet above was criticized by Fadli Zon. The criticism was also conveyed by Fadli via Twitter, using his personal account, @fadlizon, today.
The chairman of the House of Representatives’ Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) believes Ismail will still understand if Jokowi congratulates him in Indonesian.
“It’s good P @jokowi say congratulations in Indonesian, because our neighboring country Malaysia is a cognate language. P @IsmailSabri60 even understand Indonesian,” wrote Fadli, Sunday (22/8/2021).
