Effects and symptoms of long covid

Nakita.id – Are you curious about how effect long covid and the symptoms?
Apparently, some people are affected long covid and the symptoms vary.
Someone is affected long covid and symptoms of fatigue to shortness of breath.
Launching from BBC.com (17/9/2021), there are people infected with Covid will not be seriously ill and can recover in a relatively fast time.
However, some people have long-term problems after recovering from the initial infection even if they are not seriously ill at first.
The guide for UK health workers describes long covid as symptoms that persist for more than 12 weeks after infection (either severe or mild) that cannot be explained by other causes.
according to NHS, symptoms include:
1. overwhelming fatigue
2. shortness of breath, heart palpitations, chest pain or shortness of breath
3. problems with memory and concentration (“brain fog”)
4. changes in taste and smell
5. joint pain
Surveys have identified dozens if not hundreds of other symptoms.
A large study by University College London (UCL), identified 200 symptoms that affect 10 organ systems
These symptoms include hallucinations, insomnia, changes in hearing and vision, short-term memory loss and speech and language problems.
Others have reported gastro-intestinal and bladder problems, period changes and skin conditions.
The severity of symptoms varies.
But these symptoms can also have other causes.
The ONS study found 0.5 percent of people who tested negative for the coronavirus had at least one symptom lasting for three months, compared with 3 percent who tested positive.
What causes long covid?
The answer is not sure yet.
One possibility is that the infection puts some people’s immune systems into overdrive, attacking not only the virus but their own tissues as well.
It can occur in people who have a very strong immune response.
The virus itself enters and damages our cells perhaps explaining some of the symptoms such as brain fog and loss of smell and taste, while damage to blood vessels in particular can cause heart, lung and brain problems.
Another theory is that viral fragments may remain in the body, possibly sleeping and then reactivated.
This occurs in several other viruses, such as herpes and the Epstein Barr virus that cause glandular fever.
However, there is not much evidence for this to be the case with Covid at this time.
It’s possible that different things happen to different people, causing all sorts of problems.
