Finally, the first toll road in Bengkulu that connects the Taba Penanjung – Bengkulu area has been 100% completed. This toll road is ready to be operated for public use to shorten travel time.
Previously, this toll road which stretches for 17.6 kilometers (km) has been used functionally during the Lebaran 2022 homecoming flow.
The presence of this section is able to cut the travel time from Bengkulu City to Taba Penanjung to only about 15 minutes with a maximum driving speed of 80 km/hour.
This is much faster, compared to driving from Bengkulu to Taba Penanjung or vice versa via the national road, which takes approximately 1 hour.
Section 3 of the Taba Penanjung – Bengkulu Toll Road is part of the 95.8 km Lubuk Linggau – Curup – Bengkulu Toll Road. Then the other two sections, namely Section 1 Lubuk Linggau – Kepahiang (54.5 Km) and Section 2 Kepahiang – Taba Penanjung (23.7 Km) which are currently still in the preparation stage.
Citing the official statement from the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), Thursday (12/5/2022), the Toll road managed by the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) PT Hutama Karya since 2019 has undergone a Function Feasibility Test (ULF) specifically for Section 3 Taba Penanjung – Bengkulu Toll Road on April 13-14, 2022.
It is hoped that the utilization of this toll road can be used optimally because it is integrated with the development of the Baai Port in the context of developing the regional economy and will increase the connectivity of tourism visiting Bengkulu.
The presence of the Lubuk Linggau – Curup – Bengkulu toll road will reduce logistics costs and reduce travel time for the distribution of goods and services between regions.
In addition, the presence of a toll road that stretches between beautiful views of forest and hilly areas is also expected to encourage the growth of new economic centers, especially the area around the on/off ramp of the toll road.
