Facts Behind the Ambulance Car Was Not Given A Way, A 6-Year-Old Child Patient Died in Garut

KOMPAS.com – Damis Sutendi, driver ambulance Puskesmas Leles, Arrowroot, confirming himself to be blocked by a car while carrying critical patient to the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Dr. Slamet Garut, Friday (14/8/2020).

According to Dami, the patient he brought had a brain hemorrhage. He has also tried as fast as possible to get to the hospital so that the patient can be helped immediately.

However, because there was an incident with a car refusing to give way, the ambulance was choked up.

“Usually only 10 minutes to the hospital, yesterday it took more than 15 minutes,” said Damis Sutendi, the ambulance driver who brought the patient.

From the information obtained, when he arrived at the hospital, the patient was treated for a few minutes, but eventually died.

“Hopefully there will be no more similar incidents, just go to the side for a while, give way so that patients can get treatment quickly,” he said.

Chronology according to ambulance driver

According to Damis, the incident occurred on Friday (14/8/2020). Since leaving Leles Puskesmas, according to Damis, a volunteer ambulance escort has escorted him and found a way.

“Since leaving the Puskesmas, it has been escorted by volunteers who are usually nonsense,” he said.

Then, when passing through the Pasir Bajing Area, Banyuresmi Subdistrict, there was a car which allegedly refused to give way.

According to Damis, the Kijang car continued to run on the gas even though the volunteer guarding it had asked him to make way for an ambulance.

“He is even in front even though the volunteers who control the motorbike have asked for directions,” he said.

After that, according to him, the Kijang car finally gave way to the Tarogong area after the volunteers stopped the vehicle to the side of the road.

Viral on social media

Meanwhile, the heartbreaking incident went viral on social media after being uploaded by Facebok’s account, Fauzi, which belongs to none other than a volunteer ambulance guard named Muhammad Fauzi (20).

According to Fauzi, at that time he was on his way home from Bandung to arrowroot. Then, as he passed the Leles area, he saw an ambulance carrying patients.

Fauzi also escorted the ambulance to get to the hospital immediately.

“Initially the journey was normal, other vehicles gave way to an ambulance,” he said.

However, upon reaching the Tutugan Leles area, there was a deer car blocking the ambulance speed.

Fauzi also asked the ambulance driver to give way by pulling aside for a while. However, the driver still wouldn’t make way.

“He didn’t want to give way,” he said.

The ambulance and the Kijang car just separated at the Tarogong Square Roundabout. The Kijang car turned onto Jalan Suherman, while the ambulance turned onto Jalan Cimanuk.
