JAKARTA, iNews.id – Chief Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (REIT), Habib Rizieq Shihab detained at the Polda Metro Jaya Detention Center for the next 20 days. The detention for the purpose of investigation was carried out after being declared a suspect in the crowd case in Petamburan.
The investigation process into the Habib Rizieq case went quite tough. After failing to come to the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters for health reasons, Habib Rizieq was eventually led to the detention center so he would not run away.
However, the legal case is not yet complete. Following are the facts regarding the detention of Habib Rizieq, summarized by iNews.id, Sunday (13/12/2020):
1. Coming After Determination of the Suspect
Habib Rizieq went to the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters at around 10.30 WIB. He came after being named a suspect.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Yusri Yunus said Habib Rizieq gave himself up voluntarily. When he arrived, Habib Rizieq was immediately arrested and handed over to investigators for examination.
2. FPI Called Habib Rizieq accidentally escaped
A different statement was made by the General Secretary of FPI, Munarman. He dismissed the issue that Habib Rizieq deliberately ran away from the police summons.
Habib Rizieq’s arrival actually fulfilled the police’s summons because previously the FPI leader had to recover from fatigue. Munarman said that Habib Rizieq was a law-abiding citizen and had a knight spirit. He also called the term Habib Rizieq’s arrest ‘funny’ because it was carried out at the police station.
3. Jadi Imam Salat Magrib
Rare events occur on the sidelines of the examination. Habib Rizieq became imam of the evening prayer at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters.
Head of Public Relations Division of the Police Headquarters, Inspector General of Police Argo Yuwono said, Habib Rizieq was invited by the police to perform wrong worship in congregation. According to him, this effort shows that the examination is carried out in a humane manner even though it still applies the Covid-19 health protocol.
