Charged Indonesia introduced an assembly facility they call the Giga-Shed Factory on Jl Bhumimas, Cikupa, Tangerang, Banten on Monday (5/12/2022). Interestingly, the entire production process uses a renewable energy source Solar panels.
“This vision is not just a slogan, we are taking real action, the real action is that this factory uses solar panels,” Stephanus Widi, Chief Commercial Officer Charged Indonesia at Cikupa factory, Tangerang, said on Monday (5/ 12/2022 )
During a tour of the factory, a worker from Charged Indonesia explained that the solar panels have a capacity of up to 150kW. Meanwhile, when it is cloudy, this factory’s electricity can be supplied by a 612 kW energy storage battery.
The battery capacity of 612 kW is claimed to be able to support production for 3 days. If the battery is below 20 percent, the generator engine recharges the energy storage and supplies electricity.

Loaded factory capacity in Indonesia
Stephanus explained that Charged Indonesia’s maximum production capacity can currently reach 230,000 units per year. While it is said that the current usage has not reached this maximum capacity.
“For now, we don’t maximize it immediately, we adjust it to market demand. We will do it gradually, from a very low production of 20 bikes a day to a maximum where a bike comes out every 4 minutes”, said Stefano.
Most of the spare parts are still imported from China, because Charged Indonesia is working with Vmoto Soco Group. As for domestic local content level (TKDN), Charged Indonesia is currently approaching 20%. One component that has been used by domestic products is tires.
“Of course we will ramp up (increase the TKDN) our target is 50% within the next 2 years (2024),” said Stephanus.
