Factors Contributing to the Increase in Heart Attacks among Young Patients: Insights from Cardiologist Faina Lobzhanidze

Cardiologist Faina Lobzhanidze in an exclusive conversation with the portal “And now attention!” explained what factors influence the increase in the number of heart attacks among young patients.

As the expert notes, in the 21st century, many diseases have become younger, including myocardial infarction. According to her, now it is no longer uncommon that it develops in 40-45-year-old people, although earlier the age over 60 years was considered a risk zone.

The reasons lie on the surface:

Low physical activity. We move little: sedentary work, cars, electric scooters. While gym memberships are now commonplace, it is cardio, not strength training, that is important for heart health. The minimum for everyone is 30 minutes of brisk walking every day.

Nutrition. The modern rhythm of life dictates its own rules and does not leave time for a quiet meal. You have to eat on the run, and these are usually foods with high calorie content and low nutritional value: burgers, french fries, pizza, fried foods, ultra-processed meat (sausages, sausages), sodas and sugary drinks, etc. As a result, metabolism is disturbed, obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus and atherosclerosis develop.

Smoking. Scary photos on cigarette packages are placed for a reason. In smokers, the structure of blood vessels and the heart changes over the years, hypertension and coronary heart disease develop.

Earlier, the Russians were explained the dangers of ignoring the symptoms and treatment of hypertension.
