INFO EVENT – In strengthening Grab for Business’ commitment to serving Indonesian companies, Grab for Business has held its annual event, namely the Grab Business Forum 2021. The event that has been eagerly awaited by leaders of Indonesian companies, the Grab Business Forum 2021 has presented the Grab leaders, economic observers, business people and representatives from the Government to deliver insights interesting through business best practices in responding to operational challenges in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic along with several digital innovations to achieve business agility.

By making ‘Driving Digital Transformation and Business Forward‘as the main topic and presenting various kinds of material, the Grab Business Forum 2021 has been intended as a space for discussion and exchange of ideas on business and economic activities in Indonesia.

The Grab Business Forum 2021 event is divided into several series of sessions, namely the Executive Forum and Business Talk.

At the Executive Forum session, Indonesian Senior Economist Chatib Basri, Commissioner of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Pandu Sjahrir, Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X attended, and country Managing Director Grab Indonesia and Director of Grab for Business Grab Indonesia Roy Nugroho.

In this session, Indonesia’s Senior Economist, Chatib Basri explained the prediction of economic conditions in 2021. Chatib Basri said that Indonesia’s economic growth in the first quarter of 2021 could reach 0%, or at least in the second quarter of 2021 it could achieve positive growth if massive vaccinations were carried out. Macroeconomic predictions and changes in consumer behavior conclude that vaccination and health protocols are an absolute prerequisite for economic recovery in Indonesia.

In terms of business, in his presentation regarding Road to Recovery in 2021, Commissioner of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Pandu Sjahrir explained that this pandemic has changed the pattern of people’s behavior and created irreversible trend, where society becomes more integrated in online services in every line of life. In the next 12 to 18 months, the infrastructure sector, financial technology and logistics e-commerce is estimated to be the fastest growing sector.

Turning to the government side, the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province encourages the development of the Si Bakul application with the aim of empowering MSMEs through markethub. The Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, has shown a collaborative effort through collaboration with GrabExpress from Grab for Business to subsidize MSMEs through free shipping.

The Business Talks session is divided into several sessions covering different and interesting topics. As the last session, Director of Jabodetabek Grab Indonesia, Agung Nugroho guided the session Business Talk Session #3 Business Insights: Unlock New Business Value and Opportunity together with Bukalapak CEO Rachmat Kaimuddin, Director of Information Technology and Digital Pegadaian Teguh Wahyono, Director General of Climate Change Dr. Ir. Ruandha Agung Sugardiman, M.Sc and the Main Secretary of the Government Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP) Setya Budi Arijanta, to discuss best practices for using digital innovation in developing new products and services in the midst of a pandemic for business acceleration.

In this session, Bukalapak CEO Rachmat Kaimuddin explained the importance of developing features to increase the scale of Indonesian MSMEs and logistics service providers to be one of the important aspects in serving UMKM partners. Rachmat added, “Grab is one of our partners as a provider of delivery services in the online marketplace for services same day delivery.
