“Fack ju Göhte” character Chantal gets his own film
Chantal is unintentionally transported into a fairytale world and clears up there with reactionary fairytale clichés. Ten years after the first “Fack ju Göhte” film, a spin-off is now being created.
Actress Jella Haase (30) became known with the “Fack ju Göhte” comedy. Now her character Chantal gets her own film. The production with the working title “Chantal in the Fairytale Land” is scheduled to hit the cinemas in 2024, as the company Constantin Film announced in Munich. Bora Dagtekin, who also directed “The Perfect Secret” and “Turkish for Beginners”, is again directing.
His three “Fack ju Göhte” films with Elyas M’Barek tell of a substitute teacher and his school class. The Berliner Haase plays the student Chantal – an “intellectual underdog with a big heart and an even bigger make-up collection,” said Constantin. Ten years after the first film, there is now a spin-off.
In the new film, Chantal is unintentionally transported to a fairytale world, the announcement said. She does away with reactionary fairy tale clichés and fights against witches and tyrannical kings as well as for her friendship with Zeynep.
Instead, some actors and actresses from the earlier school films are returning. Gizem Emre and Max von der Groeben are there. M’Barek is set to have a guest appearance. The team also includes Maria Ehrich, Nora Tschirner, Frederick Lau, Nastassja Kinski and Jasmin Tabatabai. The film promotion agency in Berlin is funding the project with around 820,000 euros. According to Constantin, filming began last week and should last until the end of May.
