FaceTime remains blocked in the United Arab Emirates

FaceTime is still not usable in the United Arab Emirates, contrary to what had been suggested a few days ago. The confusion arose after the release of iOS 13.6. This update suggested that Apple had obtained permission to operate its service in this region of the world.

Things are not that simple, one of our readers who have been there for 10 years explained to us, and basically nothing has really changed.

When using an iPhone purchased outside the country, the FaceTime app is available but it is impossible to use it, it is blocked by the operators. There is nothing new on this point.

The novelty of iOS 13.6 is that for iPhones purchased in the United Arab Emirates, you can display FaceTime by changing the region in the iOS settings (just as in France you can display the Apple News app in switching the region setting to United States, for example). But once the app appears, we are still at an impasse, its use remains blocked.

This small change in any case allows users of these iPhone to use FaceTime when they go abroad. But inside the country, nothing new under the sun.
