Faced with the lack of health professionals in Rouen, the Metropolis will finance posts

A device that concerns positions university professors – hospital practitioners (PUPH) and researchers. Everything falls within the framework of an agreement signed in partnership with the faculty of medicine of Rouen.

The President of the Metropolis judges that the measure will allow to eventually welcome new students and encourage their installation on the territory. Boasting the “new” dimension of such a device in Rouen, Nicolas Mayer Rossignol complete: “Fortunately the community is there so that the University can open these positions and so that the territory can offer the inhabitants the necessary care”.

“We had to act”

The project, voted during the metropolitan council of May 16, 2022, gave rise to a brief exchange between certain elected officials. A total of 15 new positions announced

In total, 15 health professional positions have been announced by the Métropole as part of this partnership with the UFR Santé de Rouen. On the financing side, an envelope of 2.5 million euros (500,000 euros per year until 2026) is released. Note, however, that the positions will be subject to validation by the Ministry of Solidarity and Health.

Positions advertised:

• 3 research assistant positions;
• 2 positions of chiefs/heads of clinic;
• 2 university hospital assistant positions;
• 2 post-doctoral positions;
• 4 university professor-hospital practitioner positions;
• 2 university lecturer positions.

Referring to “good news”, Joël Alexandre, president of the University of Rouen, specifies that nine positions are directly expected for 2022. “There is an envelope of 500,000 euros per year. Depending on the level of the positions and the needs, the final number of positions may vary”, he specifies. And to continue: “We are in lack of health professionals. So we need to train more. So, you need a framework that is up to par. The mission of these new arrivals will be to train future general practitioners and specialists in Rouen and its region. »

By the summer, another agreement should be signed as part of the financing of professorships and equipment, this time specifically for the future dental faculty of Rouen, expected for the start of the 2022 academic year.
