Faced with accusations, Pornhub removes more than half of its content

Accused of hosting illegal scenes, Pornhub has taken drastic measures by removing from its catalog anything that has not been verified by its policy.

In the tournament, Pornhub made some brutal decisions. In fact, in just a short day, the number of videos archived by the adult content platform went from 13.5 million to 4.7 million, explains Hypebeast. This sharp decrease comes from a measure imposed by the platform which refuses to host unverified content. For a while, Pornhub is the subject of investigations, initiated by Visa and Mastercard, after allegations that the site has hosted scenes of child sexual abuse.

Pornhub bans ‘unverified downloaders’

So, Pornhub has filtered its entire catalog to retain only videos uploaded by its official partners and members of its model program. The decrease in content is significant: deleted videos are now covered with a message specifying that they are subject to a “Verification in accordance with our policy of confidence and security”. Beyond this purge, Pornhub promises to review its content moderation system in early 2021. The pornographic site is explained via a press release.

“As part of our policy to ban unverified uploaders, we’ve also suspended all previously uploaded content that was not created by content partners or model program members,” precise Pornhub. This means that every piece of Pornhub content comes from verified uploaders, a requirement that platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat and Twitter have yet to put in place. ”
