Facebook will no longer remove posts alleging Covid-19 comes from a laboratory

Facebook changed its policy on the same day that US President Joe Biden called for a new investigation into the origin of Covid-19.

  • Biden called on US intelligence services to “redouble their efforts” and produce a new report within 90 days.

The hypothesis that the coronavirus is the result of experiments man-made is no longer seen as preposterous or conspiratorial.

In January, a team of researchers led by the World Health Organization traveled to Wuhan, China, to investigate the origin of the virus.

  • After collaborating with Chinese scientists, the team had ruled that Covid-19 was likely transmitted to humans through an animal infected with a bat.
  • But in a joint statement, Canada and 12 other countries said in March that the WHO report was incomplete.
