Facebook will make dark mode mandatory for its desktop version

Facebook

Facebook will launch its new design in September for all users of its desktop version, which was announced more than a year ago and which modifies its traditional appearance in blue by enabling a dark mode, and this time it will make it mandatory and will not allow returning to the classic view.

The new design of Facebook, which had been announced at Facebook’s F8 developer conference, was being tested since this April, but the company temporarily allows users who choose it to return to the classic view of the social network in blue.

Now, the social network has updated its help page and has also started showing notifications to users when opening its desktop version to inform that the new Facebook design will become mandatory from September.

This Facebook design is the first that allows you to choose a dark mode with black and gray tones to adapt to poorly lit environments. This option can be chosen at the beginning, in the first steps when choosing the new view.

The revamped look of the desktop social network involves, for example, a new Groups tab, which shows a personalized feed of the activity of the groups that the user follows. It also has a new discovery tool with recommendations on groups that may be of interest.
