Should wedding guests pay if they don’t show up for the ceremony? That is the question that thousands have asked themselves on Facebook, after learning about the controversial decision of a newly married couple in Chicago (USA).
Dedra and Doug Simmons drew the attention of users of the social networks to collect $ 120 to his guests who confirmed, but did not attend the wedding. After repeated RSVPs, eight of their guests did not show up, even though the couple had already paid the resort in Jamaica for unused seats.
“If those eight people had said, ‘Doug, Dedra, we can’t do it,’ we would have totally understood, we wouldn’t have had a problem,” Simmons told the New York Post.
When the newlyweds returned from their trip, the man created an invoice for the cost of two seats and posted it on social media, where the photo took on a life of its own.
The bill, titled “Do Not Call, No Show Invited,” explained, in part, that absent guests were charged for failing to notify that they would not attend. The bill published on social networks generated a series of conflicting opinions from those who recriminate the couple for charging such an amount, arguing that they were the ones who decided to make the wedding and invite them.
Newlyweds shave during the wedding to show their support for a family member who suffers from cancer
A newly married couple from the United States decided to shave their heads in the middle of the wedding to show solidarity with the mother of the bride. According to the description of the images, the woman has cancer. The touching gesture was captured on video and went viral on TikTok.
In the middle of the celebration, Jony Lee and her husband gave a speech that took the guests by surprise. “My parents believe that we will do a traditional Filipino dance where you put money on our clothes to get more money,” said the bride. “If you have a little cash, we will shave our heads for cancer, and any money you put in front of us we will donate tonight,” he concluded.
