Weather. Little enthusiasm for the street food festival in Wetter: Lack of variety and high prices dominate feedback on the new edition at the train station.
For the second time, a street food festival took place on the station square in Wetter this weekend. The local editorial team reported that visitors and vendors were only partially satisfied. Editorial Facebook page On the other hand, a clear picture emerges: criticism is pouring in, and almost everyone is dissatisfied with the event.
Completely disappointing
“We found it completely disappointing,” writes Rapha Eickhoff. User Michael Range puts it a little more extensively: “I was there and can’t say anything about the quality of the food because none of it appealed to me. I didn’t find the presentation of the carts very inviting either, so I left after a few minutes. But I thought the prices were in line with market standards.” Maria-Elena Verdugo Márquez agrees: “We felt the same way, we went to the Ruhrtal Center and then to the after-work market with some music.”
Ice cream with straws
Marcel Hörenbaum commented: “The cocktails were ice with a straw, the fruit skewers were frozen and the churros were not good at all. There are so few events in Wetter and the surrounding area, if the quality is sold at these prices, you shouldn’t be surprised if people don’t come.” Yvonne Elena Müller says that it was “not great” at the premiere last year, which is why she didn’t even go this time. Angela Fraune actually wanted to visit the street food festival, but decided against it: “I looked from the center parking lot while shopping and didn’t find it very inviting.”
The Indian cuisine was good
Facebook user Tante Betty BU was looking for “culinary delicacies. Currywurst with chips and sausage on a skewer are definitely not among them,” she says, but at least praises: “The Indian cuisine was good.” The cost is always a topic. Günter Morandin writes: “We were there on Saturday, nothing going on. Four euros for a cup of Fanta – much too expensive. Once and never again.” Hanspflichtenhöfer sums it up like this: “Everything much too expensive.” Carola Kaftan says she didn’t find it “special either. 0.33 beers from a paper cup for four euros, no non-alcoholic drink cheaper, which is actually not allowed, and maybe set up a supporting program, with clubs or small traders and live music.”
Simply unattractive
Rainer Dorau sums it up: “The whole market is just unattractive.” According to her, Angela Nienaß actually “loves” street food events, but unfortunately that had little to do with it. Six or maybe seven stands, one of which is a candy floss/almond stand from the fair, unfortunately isn’t a festival for me. The selection was very poor and not really street food,” writes the Facebook user. Hugo Wonz sums up the street food festival in a more creative way: “Bearded guys with black rubber gloves sell overpriced burgers.”
