Jakarta (ANTARA) – Facebook Inc is testing the application virtual reality for remote work, paired with an Oculus Quest 2 device.
Quoted from Reuters, Friday, the trial of an application called Horizon Workrooms is an adaptation of working remotely due to the corona virus pandemic.
During a trial demonstration, Horizon Workrooms users can create an avatar of themselves to join a meeting in a virtual room. Users also continue to work at their desks in the real world, for example typing on a computer.

This application is also their first step towards the “metaverse”, the virtual world that Facebook CE, Mark Zuckerberg has mentioned in recent weeks.
Facebook in recent years has developed virtual and augmented reality, including Oculus VR devices and buying a studio game BigBox VR.
The term “metaverse” emerged in the novel “Snow Crash” in 1992, which means a shared space on a different platform, which unites physical and digital spaces.
Zuckerberg defines it as “the embodiment of the internet”.
Last July, Facebook formed a team to develop the metaverse, which went into their dedicated AR and VR group, Facebook Reality Labs.
Facebook says it will not use materials and conversations in Horizon Workrooms for targeted advertising on social media.
