MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Facebook reported that access to the social network is limited in Burma, where a coup took place.
–
“We know that access to Facebook is limited to some people, we call on the authorities to reestablish the connection so that people in Burma can communicate with their family and friends and access important information,” a representative of the social network told the AFP agency.
The Burmese Army gave a coup on Monday morning the 1st and detained the State Councilor, Aung San Suu Kyi, the president, Win Myint, and other members of the National League for Democracy (NLD).
The military announced a state of emergency in the country for a year, promising to “take measures” against the alleged electoral fraud of the general elections on November 8, in which the NLD, Suu Kyi’s party, won a resounding victory.
In addition, they affirmed that they were committed to the democratic system and promised to hold new fair elections once the state of emergency ended.
