The social network Facebook changed the name of its digital wallet for cryptocurrency Libra to Novi. It will be managed by an independent subsidiary of Facebook – Novi Financial.
“Today we are pleased to introduce Novi, the new name and brand for the digital wallet, which will help people send and store Libra’s digital currency,” the company said. Novi can be used both in a separate application, and through Messenger and WhatsApp. Client identification will be carried out using an official identity card, and protection from fraudsters will be built into the application.
Facebook announced its Libra international digital currency project in June 2019. In May 2020, the first CEO of the Libra Association, dealing with the infrastructure of the future cryptocurrency, was appointed Stuart Levy, who served as Deputy Minister of Finance in the administration of Barack Obama.
