Facebook is now intervening itself and will actively remove false information. Due to the many reports with incorrect information, concerned citizens are flooding the government with questions, which means that less time and manpower can be spent fighting the fires. That would come at the expense of protecting the population and could even cost human lives, Stone said.

The US Federal Police FBI also investigated and concluded that all reports of arson extremists were false.
