Facebook, worried about the increase in contamination by the Delta variant of the coronavirus, has decided to postpone the return to the office of its employees until January 2022.
“Data, Not Dates, Affects Our Approach to Returning to the Office“said a spokesperson for the group on Thursday.
“Given recent health data showing an increase in cases of Covid by the Delta variant, our teams in the United States will not be required to return to the office until January 2022“, she added.
“We continue to monitor the situation and work with experts to ensure our return-to-office plans prioritize everyone’s safety.“, she also assured.
A few weeks ago, Facebook still planned to fully reopen its offices by October, requiring vaccinations and masks.
Facebook offices outside the United States could reopen later this year, depending on local health situations.
Last week, e-commerce giant Amazon announced that it was pushing back the mandatory return to the office for its employees to January 2022.
He then followed in Microsoft’s footsteps.
This week, American Express announced to postpone at least October the return to the office. The NBC channel made a similar announcement.
