Facebook Messenger would have access to private messages from its users

During the last weeks, privacy in messages has taken a very high value due to changes in the WhatsApp policy. This proposal ensured that they would share data with Facebook but that they would not be able to access the conversations of its users.

RCN account that Zak Doffman, journalist specialized in cybersecurity, recommends to stop using Facebook Messenger. “We all know that Facebook lives off our data, that’s how we pay for their ‘free’ services. But there has to be a limit, “said the specialist.

The reason this happens is that the message encryption offered by WhatsApp cannot be applied to Facebook Messenger groups. Furthermore, this function is not activated by default in direct messages.

Doffman considers that WhatsApp continues as the best option for messaging, but that the user should be concerned with ensuring the highest security. Other applications such as Telegram and Signal are positioned as great options. (I)
