Facebook is not done with the simplification of Messenger. The application was reviewed in late 2018 with clearer interface, with fewer different sections.
Facebook continues this work by removing the section Discover, which includes games and communication channels with businesses. These channels are for some managed by chatbots, like that of oui.SNCF which allowsbuy train tickets.
Launched almost four years ago, chatbots had been widely pushed by Facebook for a time. Finally, Messenger really refocuses on conversations with loved ones.
The section Discover is not completely suppressed, it is subtly concealed. Access to its content is still possible from the Messenger search bar, reports TechCrunch.
One of the new objectives of the social network is to push its users to produce and consume more content. To do this, Facebook relies on Stories, which struggled to find a place facing Snapchat or Instagram. The new Messenger interface therefore offers only two categories: Cat, which includes the list of conversations, and People, where we find his active friends and Stories.
The deployment of this update is done gradually. Only a few users already benefit from it.
