Facebook, Messenger and Instagram are down [Actualizado]

If you have come home after a long day of work, or studying, and wanted to rest for a while lying on the couch watching the latest posts on your Instagram feed, we have bad news: the platform is having problems of operation.

In fact, almost all Meta platforms are currently having problems: Facebook, Messenger and Instagram are down in much of the world, we can confirm the presence of problems in both Spain and Latin America. Hopefully, it won’t take too long for these social networks to get back to normal.

Update (10/14/24 – 21:00)– Meta platforms can now be used normally. The Instagram, Facebook and Messenger problems have ended after between 60 and 75 minutes of errors.

Instagram, Facebook and Messenger are down

The problems of these platforms have been confirmed by DownDetectora website that is dedicated to collecting problems reported by users of different systems around the world. Currently, both Facebook, Instagram and Messenger have problems.

WhatsApp, the other platform owned by Meta, fortunately does not appear to be affected due to the problems that the rest of the platforms of Mark Zuckerberg’s company are suffering.

In our tests, when trying to load the latest posts on Instagram and Facebook, the platform shows us the following message: “The feed could not be updated”.

Unfortunately, This type of problem usually occurs. Although Meta’s social networks and platforms usually function correctly, occasionally there are failures in their servers or systems that cause massive outages, which prevent users from accessing these networks.

So far, the company has not commented on these failures, but it is not safe to assume that they are working on solving them. In DownDetector, less than an hour after the general outage of the systems, it can be seen that the reports of problems have begun to decrease in Spain. In the United States and Latin American countries, however, failures still persist.
