Facebook launches tool to protect the privacy of its users

The social network has been the center of criticism during the last year for the handling of sensitive information for its audience, for this reason it launches a control center that will serve so that the user has in his hands the possibility of taking care of his data within the app.

Facebook’s efforts to protect the privacy of its users have been in question throughout 2021. Now the company try to leave this bad publicity behind with the launch of Facebook Privacy Center, a tool with which it promises to delegate the security of the information of the accounts in the app to their own owners.

It is a new control center for the social network that will allow users to have in their hands the possibility of controlling their data within Facebook,yes how to protect your privacy through a series of well-classified sections.

Nowadays, Facebook Privacy Center is gradually being enabled for a small group of users and it is expected that, in the near future, it will be activated for the rest of the users of the platform’s audience worldwide.

“Today we are introducing Private Center in order to inform and educate our users about their privacy choices and make it much easier for them to understand how we use and collect their information on Facebook,” Facebook’s parent company Meta said in a statement.

Likewise, the company assured that users, with the use of this tool, will be able to learn about how the platform uses privacy, in addition to reading its Data Policy and the possibility of learning about how to use the different security controls that Facebook offers its public.

How does Facebook Privacy Center work?

To access the Facebook Privacy Center, users must enter the Settings and Privacy section from the desktop version of the social network. The reason for this requirement is that the feature will initially only be available for the desktop version.

Even so, in Meta have ensured that the tool will also be available soon for Facebook mobile applications, both for its users on iOS and Android.
