The company calls these AR experiences Group Effects, which will become even more powerful in the coming months as Facebook expands access to the Spark AR Multipeer API. With this, more developers and creators can create their own Group Effects.

Almost every social media user is familiar with AR effects, this is a fun filter. For example, Snapchat users, who can change their appearance by wearing virtual glasses, and the like.

Likewise with Group Effects Facebook is the same thing, adding an element of fun to the group video chat experience. By rolling out this major update, Facebook is giving everyone in a Messenger room or Messenger video call the experience of using AR filters at the same time.

The Mark Zuckerberg-owned social network said Messenger users now have access to more than 70 Group Effects, including one involving a cat that can walk through each user’s screen to a game while they’re in the Room or on a video call. They can compete to collect the best.

Users can access Group Effects by tapping the smiley face icon on the call, then selecting Group Effects. You know, Group Effects enhances the experience by allowing two or more people who are in different places to participate in the same AR game or display their own AR filters during a call.

Plus, creators can create unique AR experiences for others to enjoy. Facebook says it will expand access to the Spark AR Multipeer API by the end of October. Thus quoted from Slashgear, Friday, October 22.
