Facebook: iOS users complain about the lack of dark mode

The Facebook app has been missing one of the most-used system-level features of iOS for a few days. As reported by many Facebook users, the Dark Mode option in Facebook for iOS has disappeared without any explanation.

Facebook users have been complaining about the sudden disappearance of dark mode support on various social media platforms. This affects both Facebook’s support for system-wide dark mode in iOS, as well as the in-app dark mode option that was formerly available in the Settings menu of the Facebook app itself. Not only does this mean that Facebook no longer respects your system-wide dark mode settings, but also that there is no way to manually enable it directly in the Facebook app. While this isn’t a fatal error, it can result in a rather annoying visual inconsistency, especially if you’ve enabled system-wide dark mode on your iPhone or iPad.

Missing Dark Mode in Facebook: Not all users are affected

Interestingly, not all users are affected by the problem. For example, I can’t complain about the feature – but about a whole list of other features related to the site manager. However. While this is obviously a bug, Facebook has not confirmed the issue or given a timeline for a fix. Accordingly, those affected will have to be patient. That company there are no release notes for updates it releases for Facebook for iOS. But updates are provided approximately every 5-7 days. So it’s likely that one of those recent updates also included a change that accidentally caused dark mode to disappear from the Facebook app for iOS. (Photo by DenPhoto / Bigstockphoto)
